  1. I’ve been curious as to the efficacy of using chemex filters for straining fine sediment out of booze infusions. They trap fine particulate so brilliantly, but also supposedly some volatile oils as well. Ever tried it? thoughts?

    • Andy,

I use Chemex filters for much of my liqueur making.

They work for some things with particulate no finer than coffee ground for drip.

Work great for Nocino, Limoncello, and other liqueurs without much
      additional fine material.

However, they do not work with any liqueurs which have any sort of
mush, gel, or very fine powder.

They are slow and prone to clogging.

They are also not strong enough to stand much pressure greater than
      that of gravity.

      Erik E.
